If you like burgers, you’ll enjoy Westchester Magazine’s Wine & Food Festival’s Burger & Beer Blast.
Tickets are on sale now for the annual event, which takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, June 6 at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla.
Not only do you get to taste the large variety of burgers, you also get to vote on them. New this year will be the first ever Judges Choice Award comprised of celebrity judges Kate Schlientz of the social media site Intoxikate, Lisa LaRocca of News 12’s “Lunch with Lisa,” Brad Garoon of Burger Weekly and Westchester Magazine’s editor-in-chief John Turiano. The new prize will be awarded based on burger creativity, presentation and taste.

Who won last year?
Coals Pizza with its beef burger with Vermont cheddar, Coals buffalo sauce and freshly made guacamole, won first place last year — its second win in a row. Rye Roadhouse in Rye which served up an Andouille bacon and beef burger topped with melted pepper jack cheese, Cajun remoulade and a summer slaw was second with Piper’s Kilt in Eastchester taking third with a classic cheeseburger with sauteed onions.
Live music will be provided by FDR Drive; there will also be an assortment of food trucks and dessert booths serving burger alternatives. These include Abeetz Pizza Truck, The Burger Truck, Jimmy’s Soft Serve, Longford’s Ice Cream and Westchester Burger Co.
In addition, festival goers will enjoy entertainment at the Empire City Casino Tent featuring gaming and gambling with “funny money,” plus tasty bites and drinks in addition to a selection of cocktails prepared by Slovenia Vodka at the Mercedes-Benz of White Plains Slovenia Vodka Lounge.

Meet Jeanne Muchnick
Lohud’s food & dining reporter Jeanne Muchnick will be among the judges at Westchester Magazine’s Bartender’s Shake-Off, to be held June 5 at Savor Westchester at The Westchester.
The Taste & Style event, part of the annual Wine & Food Festival, includes bartenders from RiverMarket Bar & Kitchen in Tarrytown, tredici NORTH in Purchase, NoMa Social in New Rochelle, Saints & Scholars in Yonkers and Iron Vine in Peekskill.
Details: It will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. in White Plains and includes a sampling of food, shopping, fashion and cocktails, including cuisine from 273 Kitchen, the Little Beet, Lulu Cake Boutique, Melt Shop and Pennylick Ice Cream.
