Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has denied that a 62-year-old who died by suicide on Friday was a COVID-19 patient
In a press conference in Putrajaya today, 28 March, Dr Noor Hisham said that "the media reports claiming a COVID-19 patient died by suicide in a hospital are false".<br></br></p> <blockquote> <img src="https://says.com/assets/quote-9efd7e3aa392be8610cee6211b622c99.svg"></img> It is a suicide case but does not involve a COVID-19 patient. </blockquote> <p>Earlier, local media including SAYS reported while citing Sepang ACP Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof that the senior citizen tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted to Serdang Hospital for isolation.</p>
Meanwhile, he announced that the COVID-19 death toll climbed to 27
The 27th death is a 61-year-old Malaysian citizen who died at 10.50am today, 28 March.
According to Dr Noor Hisham, the patient had a background of diabetes and hypertension.
“He was hospitalised at Tangkak Hospital on 24 March and was later transferred to Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital in Muar on 25 March,” he said during the press conference today.

A total of 159 new COVID-19 cases were recorded today, 28 March
This marks the fourteenth consecutive day of three-digit increase in COVID-19 cases.
The cumulative total now stands at 2,320 cases.
61 patients made a full recovery today, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 320.
“To date, 73 positive cases of COVID-19 are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Of these, 54 cases need respiratory aids,” Dr Noor Hisham said.
