Recently, quite a number of people have tried to contact the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN)
Following the announcement by PTPTN on Monday, 15 July, about those earning less than RM4,000 monthly are allowed to defer the repayment of their loans, many have tried to call the PTPTN Careline at 03-2193 3000 to get more information.
In particular, many are also calling the hotline to find out their ‘Nombor Pinjaman’.
The 'Nombor Pinjaman' is needed as it is part of the login information needed to get into PTPTN's online database before a user could proceed to update his or her personal details.
The influx of people calling the PTPTN Careline to find out their ‘Nombor Pinjaman’ has caused the line to be busy, as borrowers are racing to update their personal information before the 25 July deadline to confirm their eligibility for the deferment.
There are actually various avenues that allow the public to contact PTPTN, including WhatsApp
Besides calling the PTPTN Careline or going to the various PTPTN offices to obtain information about 'Nombor Pinjaman', borrowers can also get in touch with PTPTN officers by using WhatsApp.
To obtain the ‘Nombor Pinjaman’, just send a WhatsApp text message to one of the PTPTN officers using the format given and include the following information:
(IC Number), (Full Name), (Your Mother’s Name), (Name of Course Taken)
The officers’ contact numbers can be found on PTPTN’s website
PTPTN has been providing up to 10 mobile phone numbers at any one time. The list is also being updated from time to time.
During a PTPTN #jomupdateinfo session that went live on Facebook today, 19 July, PTPTN deputy chief executive Mastura Mohd Khalid revealed that most people only tried to make contact with officers whose numbers are on the first few spots on the list.
She gave a tip, saying that the public should try contacting officers whose numbers are towards the bottom of the list as they could potentially provide faster response.
Make sure you update your information by 25 July if you wish to defer repayment, or PTPTN would presume that you are not interested in the payment deferral
