Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah just announced that there are 235 new COVID-19 cases today, 26 March
During the press conference announcing the daily COVID-19 updates, he said that this brings the number of cases in Malaysia to a total of 2,031.<br></br></p> <p>Out of the 235 new cases, 60 of them are linked to the Sri Petaling Jamek Mosque <i>tabligh</i> gathering. Meanwhile, the remaining 175 are from clusters that are still being investigated.<br></br></p> <p><b>This has been the largest increase of cases in a day since Monday, 23 March, which recorded 212 cases then.</b></p>
The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported that up to 80 medical personnel working at different hospitals across the country have also contracted the coronavirus
Among all the hospitals involved, Teluk Intan Hospital has the most staff members tested positive with 39 confirmed cases.
Meanwhile, Selayang Hospital comes second with five confirmed cases among their medical staff.

Since the first case of COVID-19 in the nation, Malaysia has recorded a total of 23 coronavirus-related deaths
Three out of the four deaths within the last 24 hours were linked to the tabligh gathering in Sri Petaling.
MOH is still investigating whether the fourth death is linked to any COVID-19 clusters in Malaysia.
45 patients are currently receiving treatment in Intensive Care Units around the nation, with 32 of them requiring breathing assistance
And on the other hand, 16 people have recovered fully within the past day. A total of 215 patients have been discharged from the hospital since the first report of COVID-19 in Malaysia.
