This routine began on the third week of last month.
“Cleanliness on our trains and facilities have always been a top priority,” the company explained. So it has been taking extra care to clean its buses and trains.
"All our trains are cleaned nightly during the engineering hours between 1am to 4.30am. All seats, handgrips, and stanchions are wiped cleaned with detergent to ensure its cleanliness," said Rapid Rail chief executive officer Abdul Hadi Amran.
According to MyRapid, escalator handrails and elevator buttons are wiped clean with approved detergent three times a day, while washrooms are cleaned eighteen times a day. Additional cleaning is done at all areas when the need arises.
Additionally, Rapid KL has set up a morning routine of health checks for its bus captains
The company revealed that the checking of temperature and health conditions of their bus captains are mandatory. It is done every morning at all seven Rapid KL depots, as well as in Rapid Penang, Rapid Kuantan, Rapid Kamunting, and Rapid Manjung.
“Only those who are found to be fit and healthy can proceed with their driving duties. Bus captains and front line staff are also provided with face masks,” said Muhammad Yazurin.
He added, “We brief our bus captains to provide them with information on the virus, in terms of what are the symptoms they can look out for, and the standard operating procedures (SOP) in an emergency situation involving any of our customers.”
Meanwhile, hand sanitisers have been made available to the public
Public service announcements about the coronavirus and safety measures that could be taken to minimise risk are screened on monitors in Light Rail Transit (LRT), Mass Rail Transit (MRT), and monorail trains.
