It isn’t from Marie Claire.

On 21 May, a Facebook post by a fan page of Tun Dr Mahathir called ‘Kelab Che Det’ went viral. The post claimed that Dr Siti Hasmah was carrying a handbag from Marie Claire, priced at RM125 only.
At the time of writing this story, the Facebook post has received over 6.1k shares and more than 30K reactions from netizens with several of them praising Tun Dr Mahathir’s wife’s modesty in sporting an inexpensive handbag.
However, the handbag Dr Siti Hasmah was seen carrying in the photo is not a Marie Claire one. It is, in fact, from a Japanese leather bag heritage brand called Hamano, according to Coconuts KL.
Priced at around USD533 (RM2,122), the all-leather material bag weighs 550g.
Coconuts KL reported that the Hamano brand was established in 1880 and they pride themselves on their craftsmanship, with each bag’s design being handcrafted.
Dr Siti Hasmah’s Hamano bag, however, comes nowhere near to one Hermès Birkin bag owned by Rosmah priced at USD380,000
